Stars

"This is what the Lord says-- your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
- {Isaiah 44:24 NIV}
My children are learning about creation for their preschool science lesson.  With that comes two things, first, shock--I cannot believe how much I do not remember about the Bible and second, knowledge--I am learning as I am teaching my kids about creation, the Bible and science.  Today I learned that there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on the face of the earth!  Wow!  That's a lot of stars.  Did you know that the Bible says, "Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing." - {Isaiah 40:26 NIV}?

How many times has God used His creation to bring you into an awesome awareness of who He is? The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. - {Psalm 19:1 NIV}

In self absorption culture, we tend to miss opportunities to experience God.  I am convinced that we must be conscious and intentional in pursuing a relationship with God.  We must stop, be still, open our eyes, and do what the Psalmist did: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? - {Psalm 8:3-4 NIV}

A proper awareness of God Almighty, our Creator and Savior, humbles our hearts because our BIG God extends to us personal love that we do not deserve.  This is what God the Lord says-- he who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: - {Isaiah 42:5 NIV}

Think back to the beginning of Christmas history.  The wise (yet humble) men stopped long enough, were still long enough, opened their eyes long enough to look up and discover that one,  amazingly significant star which stood out from the trillions of other stars.  This particular brilliant solar light served a special purpose and, "When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. - {Matthew 2:10 NIV}, because this star revealed God in the form of a baby.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
- {Matthew 5:16 NIV}

Our light must guide people to Jesus!
