Emily is a 2001 graduate of Indiana University, where she received a BA in English. However, she received her "real education" in the school of life - being a Christian in a non-Christian world.
Having not grown up in a Christian home, Emily didn't know much about God until she went on a mission trip with friends at age 17. While her motivation for the trip may have been to get out of town for awhile, God had bigger things planned. It was on that trip that she first realized there was something to "that Jesus" she had been hearing about. She put her trust in Christ in August 1996, just a few days before her dad was in a tragic car accident that eventually led to his untimely death. An extremely trying time for this young Christian, Emily took her first step of faith in God and trusted that He would help her get through that dark time.
In college, Emily was actively involved in the IU Christian Student Fellowship. It was through IUCSF that she learned to put her faith into action and really began to understand what it meant to be a Christ-follower. She knows she would not be the woman she is today without the influence of the leaders of CSF and the friends she made through that ministry. She was baptized by Paul Steiner, one of the CSF leaders, in February of 2000.
Emily has worked at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church since March, 2002. While her job responsibilities and titles have changed often through the years, her passion for writing, drama and leading others into an honest, changing relationship with Christ has been constant. She is excited to be a part of the Main Stream team and is looking forward to stepping along this journey with you.
